The Supreme Legislation Committee in the Emirate of Dubai (SLC) was established in accordance with Decree No. (23) of 2014 issued by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of the Emirate of Dubai.
The major functions and duties of the SLC encompass revising all draft regulatory legislation recommended by the country and government entities in terms of structure and content. It also offers legal interpretations and advices, prepares and approves draft legislation, and gives proposals and suggestions regarding amendments and updates to be made on regular intervals to legislation in force in Dubai and representing the emirates in committees created to study and draft federal legislation.
SLC was launched in line with the UAE’s vision to regulate the issuance and amendment of legislation in Dubai and enhance audit and compliance efficiency, in order to ensure seamless and strong legal, legislative and regulatory frameworks and ease their comprehension and application.
